Rescue 88 on Pin in Londonderry

At 02:12 hours this morning, Dauphin County alerted for Company 54 and Rescue 88 to Box 54-2, on Colebrook Road at Steinruck Road for an accident with entrapment. Chief 54-2 (Kleinfelter) responded and county reported two vehicles head on with six patients with one entrapped. Rescue 88 (Capt. Fink) responded quickly with a crew of eight. Upon arrival of Chief 54-2 and Engine 54 crews found a full sized pick-up head on into a sedan with the driver of the sedan being pinned. Upon arrival of the Rescue, the crews quickly placed the portable Amkus unit into service with cutters and spreaders to remove the roof from the vehicle. The crew also assisted with patient care until additional EMS units arrived. The crew worked with 54’s crews and removed the roof of the sedan. Extrication of the entrapped victim was completed at 02:48 hours at which time the patient was transported to the local trauma center. A total of five Class 2 and Class 1 patients were transported by EMS units to the trauma center. After crews finished assisting EMS, they began clean up of the scene.
