Accident with possible entrapment
Saturday, May 12, 2007
Tonight at 11:56 hours, Rescue 88 was dispatched to PA Route 283 Westbound just prior to the Toll House Road exit, for a vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Rescue 88 (Chief Scheetz) and a crew of 8 men were out the door within minutes. Upon arriving on scene, crews found a car to be about 100 ft up an embankment, into the woods with one patient. The other vehicle was about a ¼ mile down the road on the shoulder, with a total 3 patients. With crews from Rescue 88 and Engine 54 splitting up, all patients were attended to until EMS units arrived. After all the patients were packaged and transported to the hospital, crews were posed with a new problem, The tow truck driver advised his towing cable would not be long enough to reach the car in the woods. Rescue 88 finally had the chance to use the new winch, after flipping the car back onto its wheels, the 88 crew then pulled the vehicle out. Crews were out for about 2 hrs. A great job done by all 88 and 54 personnel on the scene. Photos and video courtesy of Londonderry Fire Company.Click here for video
