TWO HOMES WELL OFF IN PALMYRA
Saturday, June 23, 2007
-
This morning around 10:30am Engine 88 was dispatched to transfer to
Palmyra Station 1 while they worked a fire in their first due. Engine
88 (Capt. Whitebread) responded after dispatch with 6 men. Shortly
after response, Engine 88 was requested to go to the scene. On
arrival the Engine crew was given the assignment to open the roof and
put the fire out in the exposure building. Captain Whitebread, LT
Eppinger and FF foreman gained access via a ground ladder to the fire
on the 2nd floor and attic space and made an attack with an 1 3/4
line, while Captain Fink and LT Bragunier stretched a 2 1/2 to back
them up. Chief Scheetz grabbed a saw and started to open the roof on
the baker and delta sides of the building. Crews assisted with
overhaul before returning to the Engine and then transferred to Station
1 to stand-by with Engine 7-4 and Truck 35. First in crews had their
hands full on this one, good job to all companies that operated on
this fire. Engine out for about 5 hours.
