This afternoon, just before 15:00 hours, Rescue 88 was dispatched to Box 456-1 (Chambers Hill), 4651 Lindle Road at the Holiday Inn East to assist as RIT on a structure fire. Rescue 88 (Capt. Whitebread) responded quickly with a crew of five. Upon arrival, the Rescue crew set up as RIT with Squad 8 (Lt. Clark). With the Rescue crew as RIT, interior crews were having difficulty with accessing the fire in the large basement of the hotel. Control was marked at 16:50 hours and the Rescue was released by Command 456 at 17:02. Shortly after the Rescue returned to Station 2, County dispatched Engine 88 to the 59-5 Box on PA 283 Eastbound at the Airport Connector for a motorcycle accident. Engine 88 (Chief Scheetz) responded with six and upon arrival assisted Company 59 crews with patient care and basic vehicle accident operations. The Engine was out for about an hour. Rescue 88 on Pin in Londonderry

At 02:12 hours this morning, Dauphin County alerted for Company 54 and Rescue 88 to Box 54-2, on Colebrook Road at Steinruck Road for an accident with entrapment. Chief 54-2 (Kleinfelter) responded and county reported two vehicles head on with six patients with one entrapped. Rescue 88 (Capt. Fink) responded quickly with a crew of eight. Upon arrival of Chief 54-2 and Engine 54 crews found a full sized pick-up head on into a sedan with the driver of the sedan being pinned. Upon arrival of the Rescue, the crews quickly placed the portable Amkus unit into service with cutters and spreaders to remove the roof from the vehicle. The crew also assisted with patient care until additional EMS units arrived. The crew worked with 54’s crews and removed the roof of the sedan. Extrication of the entrapped victim was completed at 02:48 hours at which time the patient was transported to the local trauma center. A total of five Class 2 and Class 1 patients were transported by EMS units to the trauma center. After crews finished assisting EMS, they began clean up of the scene. TURN YOUR TV OFF!

This evening after crews cleaned up from the fire in Londonderry , a crew took the engine to Hoffers park, for the first annual "turn your tv off", this night was setup by the Olmestead Recreation Board to get kids out of the house and having fun as a community. The crew showed off the engine and gave tours of the engine as well. On behalf of the MVFD, we would like to thank the Rec Board for the invite, and will be looking forward to next year.

TRUCK AND ENGINE ON LONDONDERRY JOB

This afternoon Truck and Engine 88 were dispatched on box 54-7 (Londonderry twp.) for a working mobile home fire. Truck 88 (A/C Krupilis) responded with a crew of 4, while responding county advised that the caller states, they are not sure if the wheel chair bound man made it out or not. Engine 88 (D/C Whitebread Sr) responded with 5 about a minute later. Upon truck 88 arriving crews were just making entry into the structure. Truck 88 crew then went to work performing a search as well as ventilation. Upon Engine 88 arriving the engine staged with the crew going to manpower. While in manpower the engine crew was given multiple tasks from setting up PPV to D/C whitebread running operations. With control marked company 88 packed up and returned to the boro. Crews out for about 1.5 hours. The wheel chair bound subject had made it out and was at the neighbors house.

FIRST DUE JOB

Around 05:30 this morning, Dauphin County alerted Company 88 and mutual aid companies to the 88-1 Box at 18 East High Street for a porch fire. Chief 88 (Scheetz) arrived on scene shortly after dispatch to find a 3 story duplex apartment building with fire showing and requested the full first alarm assignment as well as the second RIT. Engine 88 (Capt Fink) then arrived with a crew of six and laid in with the crew splitting to go to the 3rd floor apartment and the second floor apartment on the Delta side. Both crews encountered a moderate amount of fire throughout the apartments. Engine 88-1 (Lt. Menear) and Truck 88 then arrived with the Engine laying a second supply line after the Truck was positioned on the Alpha side. With the Truck crew going to the roof for ventilation on the Delta side, the Engine company crews attacked the fire and performed searches of the apartments while making the attack. Truck 46 also set up on the Alpha side and went to the roof opening up on the Bravo side of the roof. Command then requested the 2nd Alarm. Interior crews worked to extinguish the fire which proved to be difficult due to several false walls and ceilings. Rescue 88 also arrived on scene and assisted the Engine and Truck companies. Control was marked in under 45 minutes with extensive overhaul to follow. Crews remained on scene for several hours with the overhaul ops before the 88-1 Box was placed in service. One occupant was transported to a local hospital for treatment of burns. Great job to all crews on scene and congratulations to FF Adam Shope on cracking your first roof. Crews respond to reported structure fire on Hill Island

This evening, Dauphin County alerted Engine 88 and Boat 88 to assist Company 54 for a reported structure fire on Hill Island. Engine 88 (Chief Scheetz) responded quickly with a crew of 5 shortly followed by Special Unit and Boat 88 (Capt. Whitebread, Jr.) with a crew of 5. Upon the response of the Engine, Dauphin County advised of a call from York County reporting an explosion and fire on the island. Engine 88 arrived at the Tri-County Boat Club with a column from the southern end of the island visible. SU and Boat 88 then arrived at the boat club with Boat 54. Boat 54 was launched with Boat 88 being launched shortly after. Boat 54 arrived at Hill Island just ahead of Boat 88 and found a large controlled burn on the York County side of the island. The boats then returned to the boat club and the box was placed in service.

First Due Shed Fire

Today at 15:24 hours, Company 88, E59, E54, E7-4-1, L46, and R59 were dispatched to 18 Caravan Court in the 88-2 Box for a structure fire. Chief 88(Scheetz), Chief 88-2(Krupilis), and Engine 88(Capt Fink) responded shortly after dispatched and were advised of a shed on fire attached to a mobile home, with reports of two dogs inside. Chief 88-2 arrived to find a small metal shed, attached to the home, with smoke showing and unknown extension into the home. Engine 88 then arrived and the crew pulled a line to finish extinguishment, which was started by a neighbor with a garden hose. Truck 88(Capt Coble) arrived shortly after the Engine and assisted with forcing entry through the double steel doors of the home. Entry was made and crews confirmed no extension. Engine 88-1(Capt Whitebread) and Rescue 88(FF Webb) then arrived but quickly returned as Command held the box to the Truck and Engine 88. The crews then assisted FM 88-1(Cleland) with his investigation before the box was placed in service. Crews out for a little over 30 minutes.

TRUCK AND ENGINE ON CO# 59 AFA

This evening, Truck 88 was dispatched to 59’s first due for an AFA. Shortly after dispatch, the Box was upgraded to a structure fire adding Engine 88 to the assignment. Truck 88(Chief Scheetz) and Engine 88(FF Foreman) responded within minutes with a total crew of eight. Upon arrival of the Truck, the crew made entry into the commercial building using the Rex tool. Upon investigation crews found the alarm to be a burglar alarm . The box was quickly placed in service by Command 59 (Sultzaberger). While the Truck and Engine were returning, the tones dropped again for an AFA at Alfred’s Victorian in the borough. Engine 88 arrived within seconds followed by the Truck with the crews going inside to investigate. While investigating, Chief Scheetz found it necessary to pose for a picture with a couple whom were celebrating their one year wedding anniversary. The box was then placed in service with nothing found.

TRUCK GOES TO PALMYRA ON 2ND ALARM STRUCTURE

Just before midnight this evening, Truck 88 was dispatched to relocate to Palmyra Fire Station 1 while Palmyra Fire and surrounding companies worked a structure fire involving a duplex and ASK Foods on East Main Street @ Chestnut Street. Truck 88 (Chief Scheetz) responded on the transfer within minutes with a crew of six. Upon arriving at Station 1, Lebanon County requested the Truck to stage at the Turkey Hill while they checked with Command 1 (Dugan) to see if the Truck’s services were needed. While staging, Command 1 assigned the Truck to take a position on Side Delta with Wagon 1 to assist with aerial overhaul and master stream ops. The Truck was quickly placed into service and the Truck crew began overhaul of the roof on the ASK Foods building. The bucket crew then went into master stream ops with Tower 5 (Annville). The Truck then ceased master stream ops but was quickly put back into service as interior overhaul crews found more fire in the ceilings. After further overhaul, the boom was then stowed as crews began clean up. Truck 88 was then released from the scene by Command 1. More pics on Palmyra Fire Video also on Linglestown Fire

TRUCK AND ENGINE ON 2 ALARM JOB IN 49'S FIRST DUE

Shortly before noon, Truck and Engine 88 were dispatched to assist company 49 on a 2 alarm job at the ABC Bowling lanes. Truck 88(Capt Whitebread) responded with 6, and the Engine(Capt Coble) responded with a crew of 4 within minutes. Upon Truck 88 arriving crews setup the truck and went into service with the buckets master stream. Engine 88 arrived setting up a tanker shuttle operation at the front of the structure, with the crew being assigned to Side Charlie operations with lines off Truck 50 to protect the surrounding wooded area from large falling embers and debris. Once the bulk of the fire was extinguished with the master streams, crews then went inside to mop up. Crews were out for 6 1/2 hrs.
