Tonight at 17:47 hours, Rescue 88 was dispatched to Londonderry Twp, to assist on an extrication. Rescue 88 (Capt Coble) with a crew of 5, and Chief 88-2(Krupilis) responded within seconds of dispatch. While enroute, County advised that the patient was working on a car and is now to be trapped under the car and is having difficulty breathing. Rescue 88, Chief 88-2 and Engine 54 arrived to find the patient to be trapped in the car. The patient was laying on the front driver side floor when the power seat became active, pushing the patient under the dash. Upon assessment by the MICU 7-3 crew, they advised that the patient needed to "come out now" due to his condition deteriorating rapidly. The Rescue crew then cut the drivers door off, while making relief cuts to the A post. The crew then lifted the dash to free the patient and extrication was completed at 18:31 hours. The patient was loaded into MICU 7-3(SCEMS) and transported to the local trauma center for evaluation. Rescue 88 and Chief 88-2 cleared the scene in an hour. |
