ENTRAPMENTS TO END 2015 AND BEGIN 2016
Fri, Jan 1st, 2016 12:43:00 pm Around 09:00 on December 31, 2015, Rescue 88 was dispatched to Box 54-1, Vine Street at the entrance to Love's Truck Stop, for an MVA with entrapment.  Rescue 88(Squadman Morey) responded with 5 personnel and upon arrival, found a car vs. a tractor trailer, with the driver of the car still in the vehicle and the vehicle partially under the trailer.  The Rescue arrived and quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicles and removed a door and the roof to extricate the patient.  The patient was extricated with assistance from Engine 54's crew and turned over to EMS.  The Rescue returned to service once the scene was cleaned up and vehicles removed.  A few hours later, Company 88 assisted EMS on a medical call in the borough.  Thirty-seven minutes into the new year, Rescue 88 was again dispatched for an MVA with entrapment, this time involving fire, and in the 59-8 box.  Rescue 88(D/C Coble) responded with 5 personnel  with reports of 3 people trapped in a vehicle, which was also to be on fire.  A few minutes later, Chief 59-2(K. Phillips) and PD units arrived, confirming 3 trapped in the vehicle and a working engine compartment fire which was spreading to the passenger compartment.  As Chief 59-2 held the fire in check with an extinguisher, PD successfully removed all victims, who were immediately taken into the care of arriving EMS units.  Engine 59-1 arrived shortly after extrication was completed and initiated fire attack.  Rescue 59 and Rescue 88 arrived shortly thereafter and with all victims extricated and Engine 59-1's crew having the vehicle fire extinguished, Rescue 88 was released shortly after arrival.
