FIRST DUE HOUSE FIRE GOES 2 ALARMS FOR MANPOWER
Thu, Jun 18th, 2015 3:18:00 pm This afternoon, companies were alerted to the 100 block of Ann Street in the 88-3 box, for an apartment building fire.  Chief 88-2(Whitebread, Jr) responded with Dauphin County advising of two calls reporting flames and smoke from the side of the building.  Engine 88(FF Gilday) then responded, with 6 personnel as County announced that EMS was on scene with fire showing from Side C.  Chief 2 arrived moments later reporting fire showing from Side Delta and advised Engine 88 of a hydrant in front of the building and requested the 1st Alarm.  Engine 88 arrived, stopping short of the address to leave room for the truck.  As the engine crew deployed the 300' apartment line and split for fire attack and search, the Engine chauffer secured the water supply.  Truck 50 arrived, taking Side Alpha and began laddering the building.  Due to multiple units failing to respond and other units responding understaffed, Command requested the 2nd Alarm, plus Rescue 71(PAANG 193rd SOW), for additional manpower.  The Engine's crew quickly located the fire on the interior while Engine 59-1 arrived, securing a second water supply, and deploying another handline off Engine 88, to Side Delta to extinguish the exterior, where the fire is believed to have originated.  Due to multiple, large void spaces, crews checked for any possible extension before control was marked.  Once the incident was placed under control, extensive overhaul began.  With overhaul being completed, units were slowly released, with Company 88 units remaining on scene to assist with the investigation.
