MINI VAN FIRE IN THE 88-1 BOX
Fri, Jun 12th, 2015 10:31:00 pm Late this evening, Box 88-1 was dispatched to the 1st block of North Union Street, to the rear, for a van fire.  Chief 88-1(D/C Coble) responded, followed by Engine 88(Capt. Zeiders) with 6 personnel, and was advised by Dauphin County of a van on fire to the rear of the dispatched address.  Chief 88-1 arrived a few minutes later, with light smoke from the engine compartment of a mini-van, established Command, and advised the Engine to access from W. Emaus St., to the Brownstone Cafe parking lot.  The Engine arrived a minute after the D/C, at which time, the entire engine compartment was involved in fire.  The Engine crew quickly deployed the front bumper line, forced the hood open and made a quick knock on the fire, before it spread to the passenger compartment.  Rescue 88(FF Slippey) then responded with 3 personnel, as Command placed the incident under control.  The Rescue continued into the scene, Class 3, and both crews worked to overhaul the engine compartment and assist the owner with retrieving some personal belongings.  All units returned to service in just under 30 minutes.
