WELL OFF HOUSE FIRE IN THE 88-3 BOX
Sat, Oct 26th, 2013 12:56:00 am Early this morning, Box 88-3 was dropped for a reported house fire at S. Union and Pike Sts.  Chief 88(Whitebread, Sr) responded and was advised of multiple callers reporting a house fire accross from old station 88-3, possibly 12 State Street.  County also advised the Chief of 5 burn victims and that the balance of the 1st Alarm was dispatched due to the number of calls.  Chief 88 arrived, confirming a well involved, 2.5 story single family home.  Engine 88(Lt. Foreman) responded with 5 personnel, followed immediately by Truck 88(Capt. Coble), with 3 personnel.  Engine 88 arrived, securing a water supply at the intersection as Truck 88 arrived and took a position on Side Alpha while arriving EMS units tended to the multiple burn victims.  As the Engine crew deployed a 2.5" line and the BlitzFire, the Truck was put into service.  Engine 59-1 then arrived, laying in from a second hydrant, and supplied Truck 88 for aerial master stream operations.  Rescue 88(FF Bollinger) responded with 4 personnel and arrived, assisting the Engine Companies with knocking down the bulk of the fire and checking exposure buildings for extension, while Truck 88 worked from above.  Crews worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control, then began extensive overhaul operations.  Two and a half hours into the incident, Command began releasing units and Company 88 returned about 4 hours later, after assisting Dauphin County FM 1 and the PSP FM.  Thanks to Palmyra Tower 1 and Linglestown Engine 35 for covering the district and staying to help get us back in service.
