This evening Company 88 was dispatched to the intersection of Plain St and Chestnut St for a vehicle Accident, with a vehicle into a house. Chief 88( Scheetz) and Rescue 88 (Capt Whitebread) responded right after dispatch. Upon the Chief and Rescue arriving, crews found the vehicle had already pulled out of the house leaving the front corner of the house slightly unstable. Truck 88( Capt Coble) arrived and crews started to shore up the front of the house with Shoring material while other crews secured the electric and gas to the house. Crews were out for about 1 ½ hours.

Early Morning Confinement

This morning at 04:11 Company 88 was dispatched for a vehicle accident with injuries. Chief 88-2 (Krupilis) went en route and county advised him that he had a vehicle accident with reports of confinement. Rescue 88 (Chief Scheetz) responded with a crew of 6. Upon arrival the crew went to work stabilizing the vehicle and began extrication of the victim, while Captain Whitbread pulled a line until Engine 88 arrived. Engine 88 and 88-1 arrived and assisted with extrication and securing the other vehicles that were involved in the accident as well as manning the safety line. Crews had the patient extricated from the vehicle in about 10mins. Crews remained on the scene until about 9am assisting the county forensic unit who investigated the accident. As of 14:00 hrs the patient was in stable condition. A great job was done by all the personnel on the call.

VEHICLE INTO A HOUSE

This afternoon around 14:00 Hrs Company 88 was dispatched to the 300 block of Spruce St, for a vehicle into a house. Upon Chief Scheetz arriving he was a little shocked to see that the house involved happened to be Firefighter Matson’s house. Engine 88 (A/C Whitebread) then went en route. With the victim fleeing the scene and no other patients Engine 88’s crew secured the vehicle and assessed the structural damage that occurred to the house. Crews were out for about 1 hour.

CREW HEADS TO HALIFAX

This morning a crew headed far from home to lend a hand to Halifax Fire Dept, helping teach a Rapid Intervention Team class. The Middletown crew, along with the Paxtang boys setup multiple different scenarios, letting the upper county crews have a taste of RIT in a house they acquired from one of the citizens. All crews did a great job.

On behalf of all the members of the Middletown Fire Dept. We would like to thank everybody that came out to support us by buying chicken. We sold out of chicken, which means we sold 320 meals!! Our next BBQ will be on August 18th, Hope to see you then.
